Cats used to be carnivorous animals in ancient history, but they became human’s best friends.
Before 10,000 years ago in South Africa and east-west Asia, people started to grow grain and store it in a silo. This enticed hordes of mice and also the wild cats. As time went by wild cats began to abide by humans and vice-versa. They started to migrate to countries as human travel.
Some cats even sailed on a vessel because at that time vermin was a serious problem. They ate supplies and nibbled on ropes but cats were able to hunt them. Ever since cats became the essential partner on the ship.
In the meantime in Egypt, cats were revered for their skill in catching birds, and venomous snakes, and killing rats. They gained immortality and were often described in Egyptian cultures such as frescos, hieroglyphs, statues, and tombs. During the time of the Roman Empire, Cats started spreading to India and sailed with them to Europe and America.
As of today, most cats have descended from Near Eastern or Egyptian lineage of wild cats. Even though long centuries have passed, their genes are more or less the same as ancient cats. Humans had been affecting nature in both good and bad ways. We hope we can keep our boundaries and let cats live as they are now.
